This is the latest in a string of high-profile people who’ve amassed crypto through initial coin offerings (ICOs). Experts say this trend could signal mainstream adoption for cryptos, but how long will it take before Apple follows suit?

Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, has officially admitted to holding crypto assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. Tim Cook stated that he was a crypto investor at the DealBook conference on Tuesday.

Ethereum and Bitcoin, according to the Apple CEO, are both solid crypto assets to invest in, and he owns both digital currencies.
“I do,” he declares. It makes sense to hold it as part of a diversified portfolio, in my opinion. […] By the way, I’m not offering anybody investing advice.”
He went on to say that he’d long been a fan of cryptocurrencies and that he’d conducted a feasibility study on blockchain technology and how it works.
Tim Cook dismissed the prospect of Apple investing in any digital currency as an investment asset, claiming that consumers do not purchase “Apple shares to acquire exposure to crypto.”
He also said that the firm will not be taking cryptocurrency payments for any of its goods or services in the near future.
Apple’s Wallet app presently offers financial services such as the Apple Card credit card and Apple Pay. Although it enables certain crypto-related apps on its App Store, the business does not endorse any crypto-related services or goods.
Apple is the world’s second-largest firm, with a market capitalization of about $2.5 trillion as of press time.
Other well-known cryptocurrency hodlers
Apple’s CEO isn’t the only noteworthy crypto investor in the IT world. Elon Musk, the creator of Tesla and SpaceX, is a well-known hodler of digital assets, with some of his tweets influencing business dynamics.
Mark Cuban, the owner of the Dallas Mavericks and one of the “shark” investors on the television show Shark Tank, is another renowned crypto hodler.
